MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR & CEO

I greet you in the warmth and excitement of summer days. First, let me thank you for your interest in the work we do and the people we serve.

This year the hot months of July, August, and September bring with them special challenges for us and those we serve that are unique to the weather. Many who are experiencing homelessness will be in need of cooler clothing, fresh cool water and a place to come in from the heat.

There will be children and the elderly who will be affected the most by the summer temperatures. Many who will work seasonal outdoor jobs will need shower facilities on a regular basis and, of course, there are those who have medical issues that are exacerbated by the heat. I simply ask that we all be prayerful and sensitive to the needs of our fellow citizens who happen to be in a state of homelessness right now.

We are encouraged by the ongoing progress that is being made in the effort to place our customers in permanent employment and housing. Also, we added a full breakfast meal to our daily services.

Community Concerns, Inc., through Odyssey III is still in the search and development stage of producing permanent housing with supportive services. We believe this is the missing piece of the programmatic puzzle for Community Concerns, Inc.

We continue to be grateful to our funding sources: The Georgia Department of Community Affairs; the Georgia Department of Human Resources; the Federal Emergency Management Agency; the City of Atlanta; Fulton County; Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD); Greater Elizabeth Baptist Church; Temple Grove Baptist Church; Zion Hill Baptist Church; Chapel of Christian Love Baptist Church; the Pepsi-Cola Corporation; Board Members; individual supporters, volunteers and friends.

Thank you for all you do to insure the continued success of our mission.
