More than a handout, ODYSSEY III Program through Community Concerns, Inc. provides a hand. The ethos of the ODYSSEY III program is inspires by the model of trials and adventures of the Greek mythological character, Odysseus. According to the epic poem "The Odyssey"' he and his crew struggled for more than 10 years after the Trojan War before returning to the comfort and security of their homes.
For homeless individuals, the struggle is hardly a myth--it is a stark reality in which everyday occurrences, that most people take for granted, are real-life adventures. For example, eating a hot meal, sleeping in a safe clean bed, or finding understanding and informed counseling. Job training and employment are also among a few of the many trials faced by homeless people daily. But, hope can be found at ODYSSEY III, a service of Community Concerns, Inc.
Message from Executive Director
Reverend J. Allen Milner
Let me thank you for your interest in the work we do and the people we serve. This year the hot months of July, August, and September will bring with them special challenges for us and those we serve that are unique to the weather. Many who are experiencing homelessness will be in need of cooler clothing, fresh cool water and a place to come in from the heat.
Optimal vision; as well as hindsight are said to be 20/20. Since reaching the milestone of 20 years of service to Atlanta's homeless in 2008, both its past experience and vision for the future indicates a need to develop a growing number of individual contributors. We would like for you to consider joining that number by making a pledge commitment to contribute a minimum of $20 per month over the next 20 months. Your contributions will help us continue to improve the holistic services that we provide to persons and families experiencing homelessness in Atlanta.
CAN WE COUNT YOU IN?
